Dinner Night Out

For the Shoalhaven Heads & Bomaderry classes, I have organised a Dinner Night Out at the Bomaderry Bowling Club on Saturday 5th November, 7pm. Please let me know if you are going, as the club needs to organise the table settings.

October Holidays

Hello I have just returned from Brisbane, after spending 2 weeks with my daughter Leanne who is now 25 weeks pregnant and glowing she looks beautiful with her baby bump now well & truly showing.

No dancing for 2 weeks really tests the memory when you get back to class, after a couple of attemps at a few dances the brain finally kicks into gear and we are now back on track I think.

I would like to thank Jenny, Kathy, Chris and Carol for taking my classes over the last 2 weeks, I may have to call on you again in the future when Leanne & Ben have their baby, around February some time.

15th Birthday Celebration

What a fabulous night of dancing and entertainment. This year we had my family, The Sirenics and D'Ban Jac singing songs that we could dance to, they did a great job learning all these new songs and with Debbie & Jacii  changing costumes to suit the songs, they looked great. Serenity sang for our skit and was very excited to learn this new song  and had already sung it at other gigs in preparation for our social, Simon had to sing more songs than the others, as most of the songs are sung by men, he did a great job learning them all, he's a man of many talents, he also did our sound and lighting for the night adding to the mood of the social,  we can't thank you all enough for helping make the night a fantastic occasion.

Another talent in my family is my husband Rob, who painted all our stage props and cup cakes decorating the isle of the hall and all the party signs, it looked absolutely stunning. He is already planning next year's theme for the stage (he's on a roll).

A big thank you to all the ladies who helped decorate the hall.
The committee worked very hard to make the night so memorable, what a committee we have.

Tracie Lee hosted the workshop this year and was very well attended, learning 4 new dances, 1 intermediate, it has great music, waltz intermediate and 2 beginner to easy intermediate, all interesting dances.
Tracie has a great personality and she is a fabulous teacher, thank you Tracie.

Our Friday night social with requests was a success, this will happen again next year.
Saturday night social had over 200 people, from Lithgow, Orange, Dubbo, Mudgee, Cowra, Sydney, Canberra, Milton, Sussex Inlet and our local area, thanks to you all for travelling such long distances to enjoy our annual social, hope to see you again next year.

We raised $3,100 and this money will go to our local hospital and the Australian Natural Disaster Relief Fund. Thanks to all who supported our raffles. The BBQ & 7 Piece Dining Setting was won by our committee member Lorraine Martin, congratulations Lorraine. Lorraine and her helpers spent nearly every week selling tickets for this raffle, once again thanks to everyone.

15th Birthday Celebration Social

Don't forget the social is coming up soon, this is our annual social but this one is a celebration of 15 years of fun dancing. If you click on the links area on the right hand side of the page, and open up "Shoalhaven country Line Dancers" this web site will have a flyer with the times & other details.

We have not done this before, but we are holding a "Meet & Greet Social" on the Friday night for all those travellers & locals that are keen for a fully weekend of dancing.

Tracie Lee will be hosting the workshop on the Saturday afternoon and on Saturday Night there will be plenty of Singing to Entertain you if you are not dancing, The entertainers are Sirenics(Simon & Serenity) D'Ban Jac(Debbie & Jacii) this is my family and they are looking forward to the night.

The theme for the night is "COLOURFUL", so wear plenty of colourful clothes, maybe you might like to come as a cupcake or bottle of champaine, get the imagination going, all we ask is for everyone to have a good time.

See you all soon.

Ulladulla Social

Hi everyone, well we are half way through the year and still plenty of socials & functions to attend.
First off I would like to wish all those that are travelling this great land of ours a happy & safe trip. Some of our travellers have already come back and are back in to dancing, it's good to see you back.

Rhonda my little secretary has called me from sunny Queensland and they are having a great time, after 6 weeks away she is now missing us all. Rhonda & Ken will be off to Darwin to visit family, then travelling through WA & then making their way back home, we miss you too Rhonda.

Milton Ladies had their xmas in July social, this was held at Ulladulla Civic Centre, what a great dance floor and plenty of room for everyone. They raised $2,500 for the charity. Well Done. A lot of the ladies from Bomaderry/Shoalhaven Hds & Sanctuary Point classes came along(some their first social) and really enjoyed themselves.

Pink Party & BBQ

The Pink Party and BBQ was a great success. Thank you everyone for coming along and making this a very enjoyable evening with Linedancers and Rock and Rollers kicking up their heels on our new dance floor under the stars. Thanks to Kaysan for the photos.

Sussex Inlet Social

Jenny has a social at Sussex Inlet RSL Club this coming weekend 17th June with a Friday night social to kick off the weekend, then Saturday after lunch a workshop with Julie Talbot, then the social on Saturday night. Alway is a great night of dancing, the dances are easy with a few hard ones to keep your brain active. There is always requests through out the program.
Come along & have a good time. We have quite a few ladies from my classes coming along, we will be having tea at the club before the social on Saturday night. You are more than welcome to join us.

Rock & Roll Long Weekend

This was another great weekend spent with Margret & Richard Pacitti over the June Long weekend at Port Macquarie. We had 2 days Thursday & Friday of good weather, then down it came Saturday,Sunday & Monday.
If you haven't been to a music festival your missing out. I have been to Tamworth for many years now, always have enjoyed the country music, but the Bands playing at Port Macquarie were Rockabilly & Swing music, so different it's terrific, can't wait for another time when I can get away to the music festival.
Didnt have a chance to do much dancing as the floor was packed & we don't know a lot of Rockabilly steps, but still enjoyed watching the different style of dancing

Canberra Weekend

28th May,
Started off with the Saturday workshop with Kate & Mark Simpkin, Tom Glover, teaching 6 dances(my head was spinning at the end of the 2 & 1/2  hour class).
Saturday Night Barry sure knows how to put a social together, with entertainment from Maddie Glover & Simon Ward, then Ben Summerill & his mate, Maddie & her friend, then Ben dancing with an Indian Lady in all their Indian outfits dancing to a very popular piece of Indian music. Loads of dancing (if you know the dances) Barry played a 15 minute bracket of 1 minute older dances that really gets your brain working, that was a lot of fun.
The night started at 7pm and went through to 12.30am, then we all went back to the units & talked until 2pm. I was up around 7am to leave by 8am to get back to the country club to run the class for 4 hours after a 3 hour drive, then stayed at the club for another 2 hours of rock & roll with Rob, then I was tired had to leave him at the club so I could get home to rest.
A great weekend, thanks Barry for a good night of social dancing.

May

To start May off, a demo was done at the Lady Denman Markets on the 7th May. About 17 ladies turned out for this demo, although it was a little dissapointing that there was not a lot of people at the markets, but that's life, we enjoyed it anyway. Thank you to all the ladies who joined us for this demo.
Collette joined us for her first open air demo, she was a bit nervous but she did very well.

The following weekend the 14th was a Rock & Roll Demo at Jervis Bay Market Day, with about 8 couples dancing to show off their skills that they have been learning over the last 2years or more. This was in the school hall, it's good to dance on a good floor for a change.

The next function I will be attending is Canberra Social on the 28th May, I go to this social every year, we learn new dances and have a great time catching up with all the friends we haven't seen for a while. I will fill you in with all the details when I get back.

Easter Parade

Easter has come and gone, boy the year is going so fast.!!!!!!!
We started of the day with a parade down the main street of Huskisson. The truck never showed up, so
plan B was put into action. We had two cars Rob's station wagon was decorated with our banner & cute little teddy bears, Rhonda's husband's car was next, with lots of cut out cows & chickens, tree branches and two of our ladies Ruth & Yvonne in the back of the ute throwing easter eggs to the crowd.

About 22 line dancers walked behind the ute, whenever the parade stopped we did "Bootscootin Boogie" as a bit of a showcase for the crowd.
Walking behind us was the Shoalhaven Rock & Rollers, again, whenever the parade stopped they danced to the music we had playing.
The weather stayed perfect for the day, it was looking a bit dicey in the morning but the clouds dissipated after a while to a beautiful day.
We had a demo in the park after the parade, then the Rock & Rollers performed, then our group joined them to do Stray Cat Strut.
Every weekend in April was filled with functions to attend, hopefully May will be a little bit quieter.

Happy Birthday to Margaret Lee

On the 9th April we had a celebration for Margaret who turned !!!!!!!!!!! Another milestone acheived. We had a great time, the party was held by the Shoalhaven River in an old barn with heaps of character. The weather was perfect not to hot & not to cold.
Some of the girls had to dance!!!! Once the music was on they cannot help themselves. You can view a slide show with more photos of this day, click on the links page or if you click on my photo, top right hand side this will lead you to our line dancing website.

We had to leave the party early as we were the opening act (Thriller) for the staff function at the St Georges Basin Country Club.
This turned out to be a fantastic night, with plenty of entertainment. It was a family affair with the Sirenics(Simon & Serenity), D'BanJac(Debbie & Jacii) my nephew & niece singing some lovely songs, my husband Rob was also stage manager for the night, running around in circles as he had never done this before, but Simon was proud of his achievment. Garry James also dragged out his trumpet which had been in the closet for many years and produced a great sound, he still hadn't lost his touch.

Milton Social

Late notice, the Milton Bootscooters are having a social on Saturday 16th April. This will be good for beginners to attend because it was Bev's Beginners who have been asking for a social.
The Theme is "Cows". I'm not sure what to wear for this, I don't have a cow outfit, but I might just wear something with the colour of cows.
Money raised from this social goes to the Cancer Council. Check out the Diary on the right hand side of this site for more information. Always a good time at these socials.

My Milk Maid outfit finally came out of the closet after 8 years
From Left: Lorraine, Rhonda, Me, Angela & Cheryl enjoying the afternoon.

SHOALHAVEN HEADS DINNER NIGHT

Thursday night 7th April, this dinner was a farewell to Sue. Sue will be travelling around Australia with her husband for quite a few months, she may be back before xmas. Hope you have a safe & wonderful holiday (wish it was me travelling around). I'm sure you will be thinking of us dancing on Monday nights now that you have your music to listen to whilst travelling, so now you can practice the dances, so you don't forget them. We had about 18 ladies turn up to have a meal at the Bomaderry Bowling club for a beautiful meal. We will have to do this more often, a lovely night.

HOMEBUSH BALL

On the 2nd April, we headed off to the Homebush ball held at the Sports Stadium. The bus had pick up points starting from Ulladulla, Sussex Inlet, South Nowra, Bomaderry, Berry & Albion Park. The Shoalhaven Country Line Dancers had 10 Ladies travelling to this annual event.
We had a great time and we found that with the split floors, we were hardly off the floor. One of our ladies Judy had never been before, but she enjoyed it, as she didn't think she knew many dances, but they always have a good mix of dances (Old & New, Easy & Hard) so she was on the floor for quite a few dances.
The social started at 5pm & went till 12pm, by the time we got back on the bus and headed off home, with a pit at Albion Park, it was about 3am when we arrived home.

Some people just can't hack the pace. Pauline catching a few zzz's before we danced

Jenny from Albion Park, Brenda from Crookwell, Judy from Vincentia.

April

Hi Everyone,
ALAN JACKSON
Another month gone by very fast. Not a lot happened in March except a fabulous concert with American Country Singer Alan Jackson. What a night, the Acer Arena was packed to the rafters (pardon the pun) literally.
The section in front of the stage was bombarded with admiring fans standing in front of those who paid top dollars to have a birds eye view of Alan, these people had to stand for the entire show. So I will never pay top dollar for front row seats.
The best seats are the elevated seats around the sides & back, you are further away but the Arena has huge screens so you don't really need binoculars (I took mine anyway).
Thanks again to Margret & Richard Pacitti who allowed us to stay at their house.

March

Into our third month already, how time flies. There doesn't seem to be a weekend go bye without somewhere to go. In February myself & 4 other ladies went to Sydney to see Michael Buble, what a great show he sang all my favourite songs, also at the end of the show he sang without a microphone & with 10,000 people listening intently, his voice carried around that arena, you could hear every word he sang, what a voice. Naturally 7 was the support act, they had no musical instruments just their voices, which sounded like they had musical instruments, brilliant sound.

Michael at his best

LeeAnne, Rhonda, Angela

Margret's Ladies & My Ladies looking forward to seeing Michael Buble

Our next social was at the Huskisson Bowling Club for a line dance social to raise money for Cancer Relay for Life. It was good to catch up with friends we haven't seen for a while & to celebrate my birthday, thank you ladies for the lovely cake & presents.
At the end of February, we headed off to Sussex Inlet for another fund raiser NRMA Careflight & social with Jenny Landsberry, always a fun social, thanks Jenny for a great night.
In March we are now heading back to Sydney for another night of great entertainment with American Country Singer Alan Jackson, we will be staying with Margret & Richard on Sunday night & they will take us to a club for some Rock & Roll & Line Dancing, then on the Monday go to Margret's line dance class, then later that night we will see Alan Jackson ,then on Tuesday off to Margret's class again for more dancing. Looking forward to this weekend.

Coastal Waters Line Dancing

Just started teaching at Coastal Waters Retirement Village at Old Erowal Bay. The last 2 weeks, we have had a good roll up of ladies trying line dancing for the first time. I hope you all enjoyed the classes so far, there are many more line dances to learn that will keep you toe tapping for a long time.

Don't forget, if you have some friends or neighbours that might like to come along and listen to the music & socialize at no cost, they would be more than welcome. They will not be pressured into dancing.

I would like to thank Jan Harris who had sent out information seeking interest in the dance class to everyone who lives at the village. Also ladies ask the fellows to come too, they have plenty of time up their sleeves, so there is no excuse now. I'm sure they would be able to squeeze an hour of dancing in a week

If you keep on scrolling down my blog site, you will see there are a lot of activities we do throughout the year, hopefully you can join us with these fun times.

Once you have opened my blog site, just add it to your favourites, then when you open it up again to see what might be happening during the year, just hit the refresh button, to get the latest information.

See you all on Friday,
Regards Laurel

Happy New Year

Welcome back to a new year. Hope that 2011 brings as much fun and entertainment as 2010.
I would like to welcome all the new ladies starting line dancing. I hope you all enjoy the dances that will be taught and the social side to line dancing. If your looking for Picnics, BBQ's, Dance Socials, Movies, Club Activities, Dinner Nights, Cruises and Holidays, you've come to the right place. Keep on dancing, it will make you feel great!!!!!!!!
.
We had a busy year in 2010, starting off with socials in Tamworth, Canberra, Milton, Sussex Inlet, Kanahooka, Homebush Ball & the Easter Parade.
We also had many occasions to just socialize with everyone.  In June, a show(Motown) & dinner was held at the Huskisson RSL Club also with a bit of dancing (not linedancing). Some ladies went to the Kladis Winery while others went to the Coollangatta Winery(also with a bit of dancing). A trip to Sydney to see the Michael Jackson Tribute Show, the movies and dinner out in Nowra.
About 20 members & husbands went on a two hour cruise up the Shoalhaven River with dinner at the Boatshed Restaurant just before Xmas, we managed to cram one last outing for the year
.
A few demo’s were done during the year, the first was at the Easter Parade in Huskisson, nursing home at Coastal Waters, Havenlee School for disabled children, the view club at Sanctuary Point we dressed up in our Charleston dresses, looking very colourful, well done ladies.
What a great time we have had at all these venues, looking forward to seeing what will be happening this year.

We started classes on the 9th January, and I must say it is hard to get back into the swing of things, like learning new dances after you’ve had a xmas break for a few weeks, so for the first 2 weeks we have been going over dances that were taught late last year, we need this so that we can remember what we have learnt. Then it’s time to focus again for the new dances coming through.
