Back Home from Holidays

Hello back again, I really missed Line dancing and Rock & Roll, it's good to catch up with friends. Leanne & Baby Madison are both going very well,  she has the cutest chubbiest cheeks that I couldn't stop kissing, it was very hard to leave my family in Queensland I will miss them terribly.

Well it's back into the usual routine learning more dances, can't wait to teach the new dances coming up, at the moment we are working on the dances selected for the Homebush Ball,

We have had another busy month, plenty of socials and birthday parties every weekend had something happening, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Jenny from Sussex Inlet had her annual social on the 25th & 26th May, Friday night was a meet & greet social with requests and Saturday afternoon Gordon Elliott ran the workshop with some great new
dances I have already taught 2 of these dances, then Saturday night everyone dressed up in their best
burlesque attire and looked fabulous, photos below.

October Social

Another social for the year, this time we were off to Milton with Helen Reeson, this was another fund raiser. This was well attended and quite a few of our ladies & Rob(Hoover) turned up for another toe tapping day

Activities for November

Aloha everyone,

Well our holiday to Hawaii has come and gone (all too quickly). We had 10 ladies all looking forward to the trip and we thought we might be able to relax and soak up the sun, ha ha it's what we would have like to have done but there are so many shops to see and clothes over there are very cheap.

We all bought heaps of things for our families and ourselves, that most of us had to buy another suitcase to bring back our goodies, lucky the airline allowed 32kgs and 11kgs carry on luggage.

We had two fantastic days of tours, the first one was Pearl Harbour, very interesting and we walked through the ship called the Missouri, I would have liked to go through the submarine, (maybe next trip).

The next tour was around the island of Oahu, spectacular, we took lots of photos of this beautiful island, there is so much to see. The Chinese Temple was awesome with a creek full of Coi Fish & Swans

Another social for the year, this time we were off to Milton with Helen Reeson, this was another fund raiser. This was well attended and quite a few of our ladies & Rob(Hoover) turned up for another toe tapping day of dances. Thanks for a great afternoon Helen.

Chromefest was later in the month, we had a lovely apartment on the river at The Entrance and overlooking the ocean and park where everything was happening right at our doorstep, what a great spot. We shared the apartment with Richard & Margaret and Carol & Ken, we all got along very well and had a great time, sitting on the balcony enjoying a glass of wine (or 2) and watching the events unfold before us.

There is plenty of talent showing off their Rock & Roll moves and saw the bands playing Rockabilly & Swing music, they were great. We travelled up the coast in Richard's fancy Thunderbird left hand drive and very comfy.

Looking forward to November as my holiday to Hawaii is getting closer.

September Annual Social

What a weekend we had, loads of dancing, entertainment and laughs a big thanks to all the girls on the Committee for all their hard work in organising this annual event, the table decoration were beautiful thanks Rhonda & helpers, All the stage props done by Rob my husband certainly cheered up a very dull room and gave the place a good atmosphere. Thanks to Simon my nephew who did all the sound and lighting for the night and sang a couple of songs from Phantom of the Opera and I was told one of our ladies had tears, that is what a good singer will do to you.

Kate Simpkin the host for our workshop did a fantastic job teaching all four dances in the two hours  that I'm sure are suitable for all levels of dancers. We had about 70 people turn up for the workshop and about 250 turn up for the social.

We look forward to our next annual social always the second weekend in September.

Hi Everyone,

Well another month has flown by, we are now ready for our annual social, lots of work has been done by our committee to see that everything runs smoothly for this event. A big thanks to Rob(my husband) who has worked tirelessly on all the props for the stage and the hall, looking very colourful up in our back shed at the moment!!!!!!  We have learnt lots of dances so that everyone gets a chance to be on the floor more often, all the ladies that are taking part in the skit, have been practicing over the last couple of months and gaining confidence with the moves they have learnt. Keep up the good work even though it is only for 4 minutes then it's over for another year.

Another 10 days and Leanne and little Madison will be venturing down this way again for a month, it will be lovely to kiss & cuddle those chubby cheeks.

Saturday night the 25th August we all set off to the country club for the Annual Staff Function where quite a lot of talent works behind the bars, they showcased their singing skills and also had wonderful stage show with lots of colourful props, these guys are gaining confidence in themselves with the help from Debbie, Jacii, Simon & Ren (all Professionals) helped make this night very special, looking forward to next year.

Lots of socials coming up please check out the diary, I have updated this again, no wonder the year goes so fast nearly every weekend there is something to do.

Busy July

Hi all
It's been a while since my last update. It's been such a busy month for socials and dancing.

This month started out with a visit to Sydney to attend Margaret Pacitti's Social, six of our Shoalhaven Group and another six from Jenny Landsberry's group all went up and had a fabulous time. Jenny was the guest instructor and she taught "Chicken Walk Jive" a fun easy/intermediate dance.

Birthdays.
Our girls all came together to celebrate Sonja and Brenda's combined 60th birthdays. We went to Vincentia Golf Club and had a great meal and a lot of laughs.

Saturday the 28th July Milton Social.
Unfortunatly most of our group wont be able to make it to the Milton Social as we had a previously booked Demo at Bomaderry Bowling Club. We wish all the girls from Milton a great time. I can't remember missing a Milton Social before.

Demo Bomaderry Bowling Club. 28th July.
The demo at Bomaderry Bowling Club is part of the 2UUU Country Day, there will be plenty of country singers and dancers entertaining the crowd, it should be a great afternoon. If your looking for something to do come along to the club between 1pm to 4pm, or tune into 2UUU for the live broadcast.

Coastal Waters Demo.
We had 9 girls do a demonstration for the Coastal Waters Retirement Resort. That was a great afternoon we had the elderly residents clapping along and they really enjoyed the dancing.

Classes.
Amongst all this I have been very busy with all the classes, Linedancing and Rock and Roll, there has been good attendances and everyone is doing really well keeping up, the girls that get the chance to come to more than one lesson per week they are showing the benefits of the extra practice.

Dances.
The two dances we have learnt this month are 'Proud Mary Burning" and Chicken Walk Jive'
I have been surprised how much everyone enjoys doing the very fast 'Proud Mary Burning' a well earned drink and a rest usually follow.

Thanks to all my girls from all the classes for supporting me and making all my classes so much fun, I really enjoy the friendship and dancing.

Please check the Shoalhaven Country Linedance Blog for some pictures and stories of recent events, and the latest news about the 'BIG COUNTRY SHINDIG'  the link is on the right.

Dinner & Movie

Hi everyone,

We had a lovely luncheon for all members of our linedancing group at the Ex Servo's in Nowra, the meal was great, so much to chose from, can't go past the baked dinner. About 35 attended this function,  this was arranged in place of the picnic which was organised for last February, which had to be cancelled due to poor weather.
It was great to see Judy again, it's been a while since we last saw her, hopefully she will be back to dancing soon.
It was also good to see Brenda, she has such a busy calendar, she hasn't been able to get to class.
I will post some photos soon. Rob has put photos on our Shoalhaven country Line dance site, link on the right hand side of this blog site.
After we had our meal, 11 of us set of for the movies to see Rock of Ages, funny movie little bit raunchy and some great music from the 80's. It was the best place to be as it was a rainy day.

Easter Weekend

Were has the time gone, already into April.

This weekend we will be taking part in the Huskisson Easter Parade, dancing on a moving semi trailer is such an experience. The parade will start at 11am but we need many hands on deck to help decorate the truck, We will all meet about 9am at Bowen St, Husky. After the parade, will be a demonstration in the sports ground near the Husky Bowling Club starting at 1.10pm

On Saturday 24th March, 15 of our ladies went to Homebush Ball, this was as usual "terrific", with a good mix of dances Old & New. This was the first time for Sonja, Collette & Marianne, all enjoyed it thoroughly and was so inspired, that they jumped up for every dance, I hardly saw them sit down. It's great to see everyone having a good time and for a great cause, raising money for the Ronald McDonald House.

A big thank you to all the teachers that ran the classes while I was away, Carol Locke, Margret Pacitti, Jenny Landsberry, Chris Boese, Vivien Coburn

Well it's back into the usual routine learning more dances, can't wait to teach the new dances coming up, at the moment we are working on the dances selected for the Homebush Ball, the selection has a good mix of old & new dances so there should not be too many sitting down, the ball is coming up on the 24th March, not long now, get out all your hats & boots, belts & buckles.

The Diary page on the right hand side of the screen has been updated again and also the dances being taught up till now.  There are lots of socials and weekends away coming up, looks like another busy year, keep on dancing and smiling, see you on the dance floor sometime.

Queensland Holiday

February 11th to 10th, March I will be taking a vacation to give my daughter a helping hand with our new addition to the family.

I have updated the diary section of this blog site, as usual the calendar fills up with many socials, demo's & outings, no wonder the year goes fast.
